More Than Just an ECU Remap
The 2.8-litre GD-6 powertrain found across the Toyota Hilux, Land Cruiser, Prado 250 and Fortuner has been a major part of Boostech development for many years. Continuous dyno development, diagnostics, parameter logging and real-world experience have allowed us to refine the complete package — not simply increase engine power.
Many have tried to copy what we do. We believe nobody has matched the complete package.
What our Toyota tuning package includes
- Custom ECU calibration — strong, controlled and usable torque rather than chasing a peak dyno number.
- Full automatic gearbox calibration — engine and transmission strategies developed to work together for improved shifting, torque delivery and drivability.
- Electronic EGR calibration — where appropriate and legally permitted, reducing exhaust-gas recirculation and associated intake carbon accumulation.
- Speed limiter / VMAX adjustment — where legally permitted and appropriate.
- Comprehensive parameter logging and full diagnostics — critical operating data is checked rather than guessed.
- Optional diagnostic health check — additional confidence in the vehicle's mechanical and electronic condition.
No Smoke Files. Period.
A smoking diesel is not something we consider impressive. Visible black smoke commonly indicates excessive fuelling relative to available air. Excessive thermal loading and exhaust gas temperature can contribute to exhaust manifold leaks, turbocharger damage and other reliability problems.
Power should come from proper calibration — not smoke.
Our approach concentrates on controlled fuelling, boost, torque management, temperature management and drivetrain behaviour to deliver strong performance without turning the back of your Toyota black every time you accelerate.
Engine + Gearbox = The Complete Toyota Powertrain
Simply increasing engine torque leaves a huge part of a modern Toyota untouched. Engine ECU and automatic transmission strategies must complement each other. That is why full gearbox calibration forms part of our Toyota package rather than being treated as an expensive afterthought.
You feel the difference in stronger response, better use of available torque, improved shift behaviour and a drivetrain that feels properly integrated. For a Hilux this can transform towing, overtaking and off-road response. In a Land Cruiser, Prado 250 or Fortuner it means more confident acceleration and better control of the engine's additional torque.
Hilux 2.4 and 2.8 GD-6
Boostech also has extensive experience with the Hilux 2.4 GD-6. Our Stage 2 figures commonly marketed for the 2.4 are approximately 110 kW / 400 Nm to 150 kW / 550 Nm, while the Hilux 2.8 Stage 2 package is approximately 150 kW / 500 Nm to 190 kW / 650 Nm, subject to vehicle condition, software version and hardware.
Land Cruiser, Prado 250 & Fortuner 2.8
The same development philosophy extends across Toyota's 2.8-litre family. Targets vary by model and application, because a calibration for towing, touring or everyday use should not simply be the most aggressive file available. The objective is a better vehicle, not merely a bigger number.
Years of Development Behind Every File
Boostech has invested heavily in its own development capabilities, including calibration development on our own calibrated dynamometer. Today's Toyota calibrations are the result of years of refinement, thousands of kilometres, countless logs, diagnostic data and experience across these platforms.
We did not stop developing them because we found a calibration that worked. We kept refining them.
That is the difference between having a tuning file for a Toyota and understanding how to tune the Toyota powertrain.
